Petra
This village on Lesvos sits against a sandy bay and feels much less touristy than other coastal towns. You walk through the village streets to restaurants, bars, and cafes where locals eat. It is a great base if you want to sleep close to the beach and explore during the day.

Agiasos
A mountain village on Lesvos full of pottery workshops and artisans. You walk through narrow streets between houses where the owners are still throwing and firing clay. It feels like a working village, not a museum.
Petrified forest
In the west of Lesvos lie million-year-old trees that have turned to stone. You do not see this just anywhere. It is a strange, beautiful walk for those who love geology and quiet places.
Eftalou thermal bath
A small bathhouse by the sea on Lesvos where hot water rises from the ground. It costs €4 per person and you can sit here for hours without much of a crowd. On quiet days, you are almost alone.
Mytilene
The capital of Lesvos is not fancy, but full of colour and life. You walk past old houses with high balconies and cobblestones, past neoclassical buildings. It feels much more like a real city than a tourist destination.
